About Us

Who is Mission Scuba?      We are nobody.
We are the boat tucked away in a quiet cove with a dive flag up and nobody on board.   We are the divers that have watched many a dive shop in our area come and go.   We are the explorers that have been serious technical diving for almost two decades.  We are the firm believers that a certification does not make you an expert, or even qualified, to dive a particular specialty, but do believe that pursuing further certifications exposes you to more training, different styles of teaching, and of course, more experience, which ultimately helps you become a better, and safer, diver. We urge you to seek out the best instruction you can reasonably afford.

We’re not a dive shop, and we don’t sell gear, so we’re not trying to compete with local dive shops or take business away from them, yet we offer private and semi-private PADI and IANTD recreational and technical diving instruction.  We are fully insured and renewed with PADI and IANTD.

Please note that we are currently not providing any dive training in Lake Mead NRA, but can offer referral training, and California open water training.

Russ Howard, our primary instructor, has been diving for more than 18 years, and teaching private scuba classes since 2009. His certifications include PADI Tec Rec Deep Instructor, IANTD Technical Instructor, PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, PADI EFR (First Aid & CPR) Instructor, PADI Assistant Instructor, PADI Divemaster, PADI O2 First Aid, PADI Advanced Open Water, PADI D-Sat Tec Deep Diver, TDI Nitrox, TDI Advanced Nitrox, TDI Decompression Procedures, TDI Extended Range, TDI Trimix, DAN Oxygen Provider, IANTD Normoxic Trimix, IANTD Cavern, SSI Boat Diver, SSI Equipment and Techniques, SSI Stress & Rescue Diver, and SSI Dive Control Specialist.
